Indonesia to expand product diversity
INDONESIAs Ministry of Culture and Tourism will develop 2,000 tourism villages around the country by 2014,
promote special interest tours such as golfing, marine tourism and adventure tourism products, to diversify the country's product offerings and increase its competitiveness in tourism.
There are 450 tourism villages in Indonesia today.
For a village to qualify as a tourism village, it must be located in an area frequented by regional and international tourists and produce arts and craft. The village must also have tourism appeal based on nature, culture or manmade products.
