Overseas travellers can get USD100 a day forex
Vietnamese traveling abroad can buy foreign currency worth USD100 per day for a maximum of 10 days, the State Bank of Vietnam, the country's central bank, said in a proposed circular.
The hoped regulation may be applied to people travelling to study, get medical treatment, do business, tourism, and visit relatives and friends, and would likely take effect in July.
Banks may be allowed to sell more than this amount upon their demand.
The proposed circular also mandates that all trading and pricing in Vietnam must be in the VND and should not be adjusted based on foreign-currency movements.
Only hotels, travel agencies, air-freight services, and advertising firms can list their prices in both the VND and foreign currencies, but only on foreign language websites and in publications for foreign customers.
