Vietnam Airlines considers fi rst Indian connection
(Vietravel) - Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, has reportedly asked the national carrier Vietnam Airlines to study the possible launching of direct air service to India.
According to a Vietnam+ report, the new air route is part of a plan to strengthen economic ties between the two countries, which will also include the creation of a ‘Vietnam-India Business Council’. According to the government’s website, bilateral trade between Vietnam and India is expected to reach US$3 billion this year and US$5 billion in 2015, up from US$2.4 billion in 2008. While no route development plans have been announced by Vietnam Airlines, they would like connect India’s major hubs of Delhi or Mumbai with Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
